JUNIOR STARSkate

STARSkate offers opportunities for skaters of all ages to develop fundamental figure skating skills in the areas of ice dance, skills, freeskate, synchro and artistic skating. This group is taught in a semi-private and private lesson format in a progressive and sequential manner. A skater will have completed a minimum of one skating season in Jr. or Sr. Academy to skate on a Jr. STARSkate sessions with the only exception being the coaches discretion.

StarSkate Assessment:

Now that skaters are officially in figure skating they will be tested in various elements in skating. (ie: FreeSkate, Skills, Artistic, Dance and Synchro).  These assessments will be recorded in their Skate Canada profile under their lifetime Skate Canada number. Unique in Canada, this program teaches figure skating skills in a group and/or private lesson format in a progressive and sequential manner and includes specifically designed awards and incentives. Skaters have the opportunity to take Skate Canada. Assessments through a nationally standardized assessment system.

All skaters in this program must have passed CanSkate Stage 6 or equivalent. Skaters may be any age. Adaptive skaters who have the required skating ability welcome.

The STAR 1-5 program offers the best-in-class figure skating curriculum in Canada, targeting athletes looking for a future in the sport. Taught by Skate Canada NCCP coaches, the program introduces participants to the basic figure skating elements to create the foundation for singles, pairs, ice dance and synchronized skating.

STAR 6- Gold is an assessment and event structure for skaters who completed the STAR 1-5 Program. This structure builds on the skills acquired in STAR 1-5 and introduces skaters to more advanced figure skating elements.
